Masi, Passo-doble,Malbec/Corvina, 2008
Deep red colour with dark violet edges.
Fragrant and complex on the nose with ripe red fruit aromas. Up-front and powerful on the palate with hints of spice and mown grass opening out into flavours of ripe plums and cooked cherries.
Long finish with tinges of sweet liquorice.
Robert Parker: Wine Advocate # 180. Dec 2008. Reviewer : Jay Miller. The 2007 Passo Doble is a blend of Malbec and Corvina (a grape found primarily in Italy’s Veneto) made in the Ripasso method. Purple-colored, the wine has an excellent bouquet of jammy black cherry and blackberry liqueur.
Forward and easy going, this tasty effort should drink well for several years and pair well with southern Italian cuisine.
Vineyard location: San Rafael, Mendoza.
Harvest: manual.
