June 10th, 2010
Typical South African Chardonnay which is slightly spicy on the palate with flavours of melon and a hint of lemony acidity, followed by a grassy finish. This wine will be an ideal accompaniment to your Sunday roast chicken joint as the soft and delicate flavours of the Chardonnay grape will marry well with the mild flavoured taste of fresh roast chicken. First Cape, Chardonnay, Capelands, South Africa, 2009 PRICE: £4.99

New wines for June include the very fruity Meiser, Dornfelder, Qba, 2008, from Rheinhessen in Germany. @ £11.95p per bottle.
An unusual wine in that it has a sweet fruit of raspberries backed up by gentle sweet vanilla oak on the after taste. It is one of only a few grapes capable of ripening in Germany’s relatively luke warm climate, that provide the wine with a depth of colour, close to garnet red.
It is a wine I call an easy drinker for learners! It is perfect for drinking on it’s own in these hot summer months to come.

We also have limited stocks of a delicious Rose, “Vina La Rosa”, from chile, made from Cabernet Sauvignon/ Merlot. A wine packed full of summer fruit flavour for just £5.80 per bottle. So come on down and grab yourself something worth drinking and a bargain at the same time.

Simboli, Lavis, Chardonnay, Trentino, D.O.C. Italy, 2008
The colour is bright straw-yellow with golden shades, the nose, intense and captivating, offers a sweet fruit, well blended with elegant wood notes. We recognise perceptions of banana, pineapple, apple, lime, white peach, Clementine, mulberry, almond and vanilla. The mouth, lively freshness, balanced, highly drinkable, classy Chardonnay. The after taste plays on the freshness of the scent of the nose, with the citrus fruit in the foreground, accompanied by a note of fresh plant grass. PRICE: £7.99

Pedro Ximenez, Sacromonte, Liquer Sherry, Jerez, Spain:
This is a very special selection cream Sherry of the utmost concentration, purely so, because it comes from a Solera system where the oldest wine is from 1941! This factor adds a whole new dimension to the Sherry, which has a nose of rich sultanas and honey, tastes like Christmas cake, whilst leaving the best until last…the after taste…to die for! Rich layers of brandy butter and cream with heaps of rich dried fruit to finish. ‘Christmas in a glass’! PRICE: £13.99
